Budweiser (US version) is the Official Beer of this World Cup.

Is the idea to choose a beer so horrible it puts people off drinking?

I'm with Pagey where I don't actually give a shit as I have way more important things closer to home to worry about, as I'm sure most do, but also agree with Billy that the sheer hypocrisy is an absolute fucking disgrace. Who says you can't have it both ways? Well, the broadcasters are.

Re: World Cup Qatar
What can I do Pagey? I had a moan on FB & Twitter at the time it was awarded and will no doubt do so again when it nears & starts, but it's futile.
I'd just hope that this couldn't happen but it has. It's the hypocrisy as Billy just said below, more than anything that gets me.

One billy . A sound post.

I think the England players in solidarity to gay men should “take the hip” I.e. place hand on hip and say “cooee” before kick off.

Re: World Cup Qatar
It would amuse me greatly if every single player in the competition came out as gay (or some other "condition" not tolerated in Qatar), in unison, the evening before the competition starts.

It won't change anything though because there is so much (face & money) at stake and I wouldn't mind betting that FIFA,the Qataris & the media already have a prepared script to cover such an event.

Re: World Cup Qatar
Brentford, that’s all very noble and all that but do you really give a shit deep down? What do you do about it other than moan about it on a West Ham forum? I’m not having a go, just asking?

That, my friend, is a superb post.

I agree 100%.

The hypocrisy in football is amazing.
Kick a cat? Burn him.
Take the knee for 2 years? Rainbow laces? Promote women's football to the moon? Have a world cup in Qatar
Kill journalists? Sweet, take over Newcastle as long as you've got some cash

Re: World Cup Qatar
My biggest problem with this is the hypocrisy of the broadcasters.

We are told every time we watch a game that inclusivity is all,no room for prejudice or exclusion in our game yet there isnt a word of condemnation thrown at a country that burns gays and stones women for showing to much flesh.

As soon as this is mentioned,Linekar and his mob will tell us that politics has no place in sport.

Cunts!!

Re: World Cup Qatar
Why not? If enough meaningful countries did it might make the likes of FIFA & the IOC think twice about future venues.
It's a farce, nothing will change there or in any of the many barbaric regimes in the region. They'll just keep following the money.

I bet the England team will still take the knee too and make no other gesture as they won't be allowed too and don't actually give a shit.

Brentford, what do you want England to do then? Out of interest. Pull out of the tournament?

Which it does as you’re talking about it.

Or human wrongs?

I wonder if they'll have thousands of drugged up pissed up Qataris trying to rush the gates at the final?

Yet we are told these places aren’t backwards in their views now……this is why we need the World Cup to be held in new parts of the globe……if only they wasn’t so transparent and people still flocked to be there or watched it globally….

Anyone taking a Rainbow flag to support LGBTQI types?

Notice all the Football people have gone very silent on this sort of thing, just highlights the hypocracy in the game and how money talks......

https://www.espn.com.au/football/fifa-world-cup/story/4631260/world-cup-director-warns-rainbow-flags-could-be-taken-away-from-supporters

Rainbow flags could be taken off fans at the World Cup in Qatar to protect them from being attacked for promoting gay rights, a senior leader overseeing security for the tournament told The Associated Press.

Re: World Cup Qatar
I don't like the fact that the world cup is in that shithole, but that aside I've come round to the idea of the different time slot and think it could be good. I.e going to the pub to watch a world cup game at 5pm when it's dark and cold outside is a totally different experience and may never happen again, so why not embrace it. It also means the PL season starts earlier and finishes later, which imo is good for those that actually like football.
